GVMS School Play

ANNIE

 

This year's musical production for the Gunnison Valley Middle School is taken from the movie 'Annie'.  In September, the school held try outs and McKenna earned the part as one of the servants for Mr. Warbucks, as well as part of the company in Central Park, and stage crew.  McKenna has been so dedicated about getting up and attending all her early morning practices.  I know this has paid off because she not only signs the songs she needs to know for her servant part, but she has memorized every song in the show. 

Not only were the performances of the play great, but McKenna has been able to gain some awesome friendships through this opportunity.  One of her very favorite people and now claiming to be one of her best friends is Brinlee Bown, aka Ms. Hannigan.  These two seems to have some of the same qualities when it comes to having a good time; they both are so likable and love to laugh.  I caught Brinlee's mom outside the hall before one of the plays and told her what an awesome job Brinlee did and how McKenna just loves her.  Elise, Brinlee's mom, laughed and told me that Brinlee just days before told her how much she loves McKenna too. 

 

 Another great friend and person McKenna has come to know is Alison Embley, aka Annie.

 

Even though these girls are both a year older than her in school and she been in the same dance class with the past several years, something about this play strengthened their friendship.   I know they will always have a great friendship amongst them for years to come.
 

A few highlights of the play!

 

 

With the play running three days, it was sad to see it come  to an end.  McKenna is already looking forward to their play for next year which will be Peter Pan.  With that in mind, it means that eighth graders will be playing the lead roles and McKenna is already hoping she gets to play the part of Wendy.  Knowing her, she will put her mind to it and know every song to the play so she will be prepared for auditions!
