A while back, the Gunnison Valley G-Gettes were able to go and get team pictures. We finally got a copy of them and thought it would be fun to share these for McKenna. It makes me sad to look at these; here is a beautiful dancer who experienced an injury and left her unable able to complete the year of dancing like she had dreamed about. At least she was able to gain some great friendships through this experience and learned a lot of life lessons over the past several months.

Thriller
I had the opportunity to take a group of these drill team girls to the performance of Thriller in Provo tonight. This was so much fun, not only was the show great, but watching these girls out in the foyer was priceless. There were zombies out in the foyer, walking around and simply breaking up this group of girls. The girls were all just laughing and trying to get away as quick as they could.
I am so glad I had this opportunity to be with McKenna and so many of her friends tonight. Our seats were great and the show was awesome. What a fun way to get in the Halloween spirit!

G-Gette Mini Drill Team Camp
Wednesday after school started the G-Gette's Mini Drill Team Camp. Allyson and Lottie were pretty excited about going to this camp this year, especially because McKenna was going to be there. However, once I got to the school to drop them off, both girls were a little hesitant and weren't sure is they wanted to do it and were worried they wouldn't have fun. I did get them convinced, but even Lottie asked me while we were waiting in the line to pay, "Mom, what I do if I get in there and change my mind?". I told her she would like and that lucky for her, McKenna was one of the teachers for her age group, so I knew she would be fine.
But just like everything else these girls do, they loved every minute of it. They had so much fun and couldn't wait to come home and show us their new moves that they learned; and they were both excited to go the Thursday's practice. Thursday's practice was in the gym and then on Friday, it moved out to the football field. Here the girls did an actual run through of what they would be doing during half time that night. It was so fun to watch all the little girls admire all of the Drill Team girls. What a fun experience!
Friday night came and these girls were so excited to perform at half time. The girls were all given new shirts and they wore these to perform in. Lottie was in the 3 to 5 age group and Allyson danced with the 6 to 8 year olds. It was a pretty cute performance, it was where each age group danced they own dance and then all the girls at the end got together and performed the dance that they learned as a group. It was so cute!

GVHS Homecoming
The theme for this year's GVHS Homecoming was based upon board games. Each class, group, and sport were assigned a board game that they had to theme their weeks activities around. On Monday, it was Operation Day, there was no school, so this game the kids a great day to paint the main street windows based on their board game. The Drill Team was assigned the game 'Twister', so they painted their window with polka dots, hand and foot prints.
During the week, there were many things that kept McKenna busy both at school and after school. She had so much fun this week being involved in all these fun activities.
Friday morning, I was able to go and watch the pep assembly. This was fun to be able to watch the drill team and cheerleaders dance, plus I was able to watch all the activities and life-size board games that the GVHS Studentbody Officers had for the all the students to play.
On Friday afternoon was the Homecoming Parade. Even though the Drill Team were the Twister girls, they based their float around the game board Battleship. I thought it was quite fitting based on today being 9-11 and so many tributes given in honor of those died for us on that day, fourteen years ago. The girls all wore camo as part of their float. It was fun to see the creativity that each class or group came up with in representing their assigned board game.
After the parade, we went home and got ready for the big football game. Friday Night Lights are fun, but having it be Homecoming was even that much better.
McKenna was pretty excited too for the big game. She had the opportunity to sing the National Anthem with her Cantus singing group prior to the game. Afterwards, she went and got ready for the big game.
Unfortunately, the Bulldogs lost their homecoming game, but regardless win or lose, this week has been such a fun-filled week for McKenna. She has loved participating in all the activities and late night parties. She has loved this part of high school and being involved in drill team.
