GVHS Homecoming

The theme for this year's GVHS Homecoming was based upon board games.  Each class, group, and sport were assigned a board game that they had to theme their weeks activities around.  On Monday, it was Operation Day, there was no school, so this game the kids a great day to paint the main street windows based on their board game.  The Drill Team was assigned the game 'Twister', so they painted their window with polka dots, hand and foot prints.

During the week, there were many things that kept McKenna busy both at school and after school.  She had so much fun this week being involved in all these fun activities.

Friday morning, I was able to go and watch the pep assembly.  This was fun to be able to watch the drill team and cheerleaders dance, plus I was able to watch all the activities and life-size board games that the GVHS Studentbody Officers had for the all the students to play.

On Friday afternoon was the Homecoming Parade.  Even though the Drill Team were the Twister girls, they based their float around the game board Battleship.  I thought it was quite fitting based on today being 9-11 and so many tributes given in honor of those died for us on that day, fourteen years ago.  The girls all wore camo as part of their float.  It was fun to see the creativity that each class or group came up with in representing their assigned board game.

After the parade, we went home and got ready for the big football game.  Friday Night Lights are fun, but having it be Homecoming was even that much better.

McKenna was pretty excited too for the big game.  She had the opportunity to sing the National Anthem with her Cantus singing group prior to the game.  Afterwards, she went and got ready for the big game.

Unfortunately, the Bulldogs lost their homecoming game, but regardless win or lose, this week has been such a fun-filled week for McKenna.  She has loved participating in all the activities and late night parties.    She has loved this part of high school and being involved in drill team.
