State Honor Choir Concert

McKenna had a wonderful opportunity to participate in this year's High School Men's and Women's State Honor Choir Concert.  She was able to do this last year on the Middle School level and has looked forward to participating this year as a freshman.

When the opportunity first opened up, McKenna told Mr. Allred that she would not be able to go because of her involvement with Drill Team, so she actually missed the deadline to sign up.  However, after we met with her orthopedic specialist the first of November and he advised her that she would no longer be dancing, McKenna called Mr. Allred instantly and he was able to pull some strings to get her in to the choir.

The Women's Choir learned five songs to sing as well as two more to sing with the men.  This entailed a couple practices up north with the other schools as well as an all day practice the day before the final show.  McKenna was at the school early Friday morning to go to Murray High School were all the schools, both girls and boys would practice.  McKenna sang for 13 hours that day.  When I picked her up from Murray High School that night at 9:15pm, she told me that she didn't think she would ever be sick of singing as much as she did today; yet, even though it wore her out, she was still very excited about the big concert Saturday afternoon.

This year's concert took place at the Abravanel Hall in Salt Lake City.   She had to be there at 8:00 am Saturday morning and it worked out great that Tyler had to be down town Salt Lake that same time, so he was able to take her, which allowed me time to get ready and not have to kill five hours alone downtown alone.  The concert started at 1:30 and lasted about an hour.  This was so fun for both McKenna and I to attend.  The music was absolutely amazing!

I am so glad McKenna has such a talent and desire to want to participate in activities such as this program.  We had so much fun and what an awesome opportunity to McKenna to have!
