Camping in July

With the holiday weekend quickly approaching, we decided that it would be best if we pulled our trailer up on the mountain early enough to save us a spot before everyone else in the valley had the same idea.  So Sunday evening, we hooked on and went to the mountain.  And of course, this quick trip turned into a photo shoot for the kids, they sure do love to pose.

Thursday night after work, we packed our bags, the food, and on the mountain we went.  It was nice to get away, the weather was nice and cool and it simply felt good to relax!  Even though this was a quick trip, it was good to leave town and enjoy the company of each other.

Ally, of all four of our kids, is the most huggable and kissable of the all.  She will do anything to give or receive hugs and kisses.  The pictures below crack me up because to give McKenna a kiss is almost torture and you can see that it is almost an understatement!  She does not want hugs or kisses from Ally, but Ally does not give up!  Ally was able to sneak one in on McKenna, whether she liked it or not!

Friday morning, we got up, ate breakfast, and was able to just hang out for a while.  With plenty of stuff to do at home to get ready for the 4th, we left around lunch time to go back home.  In the meantime, the kids were able to enjoy the mountains.  Trey was on the prowl for pot guts.  He had a good resting spot on a rock that left him dead on to a pot gut hole.  The little girls went on a small hike with Grandma JoAnn, while McKenna just took it easy.

With the 4th of July falling on a Saturday this year, it worked out great for us to find one more night to spend in the mountains.  After Gunnison's big parade, we spent time with family at Rod and JoAnn's, went to the park, and waited patiently to go back on the mountain.  McKenna had to be in the parade in Manti at 7pm, so Jeremy, Trey, Ally, and Lottie left for Gooseberry.  This trip Grandpa Rod and Grandma JoAnn also went along for the night.  Once they got on the mountain, they had lunch and then went up on top and watched the herd of elk.  This was fun for all and ended up consuming the majority of the time.

Saturday night, when I arrived to camp, everyone was hanging out in our trailer to stay out of the rain.  Lottie was entertaining everyone by doing her Grandma Loraine impression.  She found a stick just her size so she could use it as her cane, just as Grandma Loraine uses her cane.  Pretty funny watching this little one hunch over trying to act old!

Sunday morning we got up and the kids were anxious to get playing again.  They started riding the four wheelers and bikes while breakfast was being made.  I had to teach Relief Society that morning, so Lottie and I headed home while the rest stayed back and played.  Lucky for them, they had fun riding some new trails and exploring as much as they could.
