This is our second year in a row going to the Nephi Demolition Derby and how excited we were to be there to watch. We were on a tight schedule earlier this afternoon trying to get our school shopping done, be back in Gunnison and then to Nephi all by 6:00 pm. Of course things always take longer than expected and it so happened that Rod and JoAnn were coming up to the derby this year, so we decided for Jeremy to drive to Nephi with them, rather than the five of us rushing back to Gunnison and get back to Nephi in time for the Derby. This ended up giving us more time on our hands, and made it more fun for the kids and I to walk around and check out all the cars and trucks entered into the derby.
Finally, the awaited derby started, where we saw crash and burns all around the arena. Once it started Lottie wanted to go home, she wasn't sure of all the loud noise, dirt, and commotion, but once she realized it wasn't so bad after all, she relaxed and enjoyed the show. We were all anxious for Kayle to come out and compete in his car. He didn't compete until the second round and was he was out there, he had hit and been hit too many times before he was disqualified and had to quit running his car.
We had good seats and were surrounded by a lot of Jeremy's cousins. We also were surrounded by all of Kayle's family, so it was quite the cheering section. Kayle ended up being one of the top 3 to come back and do well in the Grunge match, which let him going into the final round. During the final round, his car ended up into the birm of the arena, so he didn't end up winning anything. But regardless, we all had a fun night at the derby.
As you can see, it was a long night and so much fun. By the time it got to the final round, Lottie was completely wore out, even with so much loud noise from cars and crowd, she was able to zonk right out.
What a fun night, we can't wait to go next year!
