Ally's Black Eye

My poor little Ally with a black eye, all from dance practice.  Thursday night at dance class the girls were playing around while they were waiting for everyone in their class to show up.  Allyson and Addie Henrie were showing their dance teacher their tippy toe runs.  Unfortunately, the tippy toe runs turned into a disaster.  I hadn't even dropped her off five minutes before, when I got a text from her teacher that said her and another girl bonked and that Ally wanted me to come and get her.  I was in the middle of picking up McKenna from piano in time to run her to her dance practice and then back to the dance studio I went to check on Allyson.  When I first read the text, I just figured it was a small bump and she was shy and embarrassed to be there with her friends and so she just wanted her mom.  But much to my surprise,  I saw my little Ally with a swollen eye due to a small collision with two girls.  Addie had already left and from the sounds of it, so only had a small goose egg on her forehead.  Allyson definitely got the bad end of the deal.

Friday morning, Allyson did not want to go to school.  I made her a deal that if she would stay in the back office and color at work, she could go to work with me.  So with her sunglasses on and her backpacked packed, off to work with mom she went.  This didn't work out as well as I thought, she wanted to be up front and color by me.  This way she had every prime opportunity to show off her black eye.  On Monday, as much as she didn't want to go to school, I made her.  After lots of discussion, she knew she would have her black eye for a while, so couldn't avoid school because of it.  So Monday morning I walked her down to her classroom and made sure her teachers were aware of her trauma.  Luckily a boy in Ally's class had a black eye a couple weeks ago, so it wasn't going to be too new to the class.   I had to laugh that when I would run into someone that worked at the school, they always commented about how funny she acted with this black eye.  They would tell me she would pull her hair forward so no one would notice her black eye.  Luckily, it only took several weeks for the bruise to finally fade and six weeks later, she is almost back to normal!
