It started Friday night after McKenna was crowned 2nd Attendant to Miss Sanpete Teen that the directors of the pageant saw Ally and wanted to have her run in the Mini Miss Pageant on Saturday. After a little bit of convincing, Ally decided that she wanted to participate. So Saturday morning we got up and watched the YouTube videos on the pattern and style for modeling, we ran through a few interview questions and got her all made up.
We showed up to the high school and there were little girls every where, I almost felt like I was stepping into an episode of Toddler and Tiaras. After waiting for an hour, it was finally Ally's age group of girls to get ready for interview. At that point, Ally started getting cold feet. The thought of interview just made her cry and she wanted to back out. After talking with the directors, they told her did not have to do the interview portion of the pageant and that way she could still compete in the other areas of the competition. So rather than making matters worse, we opted out of interview and went and got ready for the party wear portion.
After interview, it went party wear and party dress with an on-stage interview. Here is where Ally just shined. She was pretty nervous in the very beginning, but once she realized that it wasn't as scary as she told herself, she just relaxed and had a lot of fun.
Once the competition was over, they took turns bringing out each age group on stage to award the girls. Finally Ally's age groups had their turn to stand on stage to receive their awards. Ally was award the Miss Tot Sanpete Personality. She totally rocked the modeling and on stage interview. I was so proud of her and willingness to stick with the rest of the competition. She too was glad she stayed and competed the rest of the areas of competition, she was pretty proud of her crown and banner that she was able to wear home and show off.
One thing that made this that much more fun was being there with McKenna. Now that McKenna is royalty, one of her first assignments was to help with today's pageant. So it was fun to have two of my beautiful girls there on stage together!
