Today's pageant was so much fun and I am especially proud of McKenna and all that she accomplished today. I will never forget that smile and her giggle as she walked out of her interview. I knew the moment she walked out that door that she just nailed the interview and all but impressed the judges. She looked absolutely stunning and her confidence just shined.
After her interview, we had several hours before the big show. This gave her plenty of time to practice her talent and just relax before the big night. The night of the pageant was great. She just loves the lime light of being on stage and it totally showed in all that she did tonight. The opening number was a showcase of all ten contestants wearing what they wore for their interview. Then each girl had the opportunity to answer two on stage questions. McKenna did great!
After the interview portion, the girls had the opportunity to model fitness wear and from there was the talent portion of the pageant. McKenna did a piano / vocal solo called 'Stay'. She wore Marlie Meacham's lime green sequin dress and looked beautiful up on stage. She looked and sounded great.
One of McKenna's favorite part of pageants is modeling evening wear. This beautiful scarlet red dress made her just glow so beautifully up on stage. Her modeling was wonderful and afterwards, we were all anxiously anticipating the results.
It was so exciting for all of us when they brought the contestants up on stage for the final results. I was so proud of McKenna when they called her as 2nd Attendant. I too, know she was beyond excited too! This is such an awesome opportunity for her, not only for her own personal growth, but for her to be recognized throughout Sanpete County.
After she was announced as 2nd Attendant, Lindzey Harding was announced as 1st Attendant and then Lauren Christenson was announced queen. It was so fun to see that these three girls, all being from Gunnison, was announced and they new Miss Sanpete County's Outstanding Teen royalty. They instantly had a bond there that I know will grow throughout the year as they work together in different project and activities throughout the Sanpete valley.
Tonight ended up being so much fun for the entire family. It is always so fun when you can watch your own children grow and do hard things. McKenna proved herself today that she can do hard things. When we first heard about this pageant, the first meeting we went to, McKenna was doubting herself and didn't thing she could do this. One of those reasons being, she was the only 13 year old girl there trying out. She didn't think that with that many other girls trying out, some of which had done pageants before, that she could do it. Well, she did her thing and pulled off such a great accomplishment.
McKenna, your dad and I are so proud of you. You are such an amazing beautiful young lady and we are proud that you are our daughter. Keep up the good work, for you will go far in all that you put your mind too!
