Carving pumpkins this year ended up turning into a two night project. We had talked about getting everyone's carved and out of the way on Saturday night, but Lottie was too tired to do hers and McKenna went out with friends. So, Trey and Ally decided to get a good start on theirs. Trey knew exactly what he wanted to carve this year, so he pulled out his pencil and went to drawing. Once he had it like he wanted, he got his knife and went to work. Allyson's biggest decision was which pumpkin was she going to start with first. She has several this year from field trips and then the pumpkins we picked up at that patch. Once she decided she wanted an owl carved out, she was able to narrow her decision down to the perfect one.
Round #2 of pumpkin carving was Sunday night. This time it involved all four kids. Ally didn't want to carve tonight, she just wanted to paint; so once that pain was out, Lottie wanted to do the same thing. Trey had a couple small pumpkins that he worked on and McKenna took on the Jack-o-lantern look. This kids are getting old enough that it isn't so much work for mom and dad. They all knew what they wanted and off to work they went.
What a cute bunch of kids! McKenna obviously wasn't very thrilled to be carving, but when its a holiday tradition, she knew she had to make the best out of it. I think in the end, she had a lot of fun!
Lottie had fun writing "TYRA" on one of her pumpkins!
Final Pumpkins . . . . .
