Championship Football

So the big day has come and this group of 6th Grade boys are pretty pumped for their big Championship game today.  They are taking on the undefeated Beaver Beavers at Millard High School.  This group of boys have worked hard in preparing for today's big game.  This is the first time in the history of Gunnison Football that any team has played for a championship game, so its a pretty big deal!!  The excitement actually started last night when he got home from practice to see his big Good Luck sign hanging on the house!

The first time these boys played Beaver, we lost 32 to 0 during a season game.  However, this group of boys have come so far since then.  It ended up being a great game, even though we lost 12 to 0.  They played harder than they have ever played before and even though they weren't able to get on the scoreboard, they accomplished so much that they all had a lot to be proud of today.  They played awesome defense and offense, even with a couple close calls, its just didn't happen.  Even the Beaver coach came over after the game and said how good these boys played, so that is quite a compliment.

Trey played awesome this entire season, from his positions on offense and defense.  Jeremy has had both Coach Lud and Coach Yardley come to him in separate times to tell him how proud they are of Trey and what a great player and asset he has been to the team.  They were proud of his dedication and hard work to want to play the game.  Trey has surprised both Jeremy and I and how he has learned the game and gained such a love to play.  We both are looking forward to see what this young man will accomplish in years to come, he is developing into an awesome athlete.

The trophy and a picture of the team are now in the trophy case at the Middle School.  Trey said that they recognized this group of boys for their success at an assembly several weeks after the big game.
