4th of July
I love this time of year! Ever since I was little, I have always looked forward to the 4th of July. I love the fireworks, the parades, the BBQs, and the time we get to spend with friends and family. This year we started off with the parade at 9 am. Gunnison's parade is always so fun to watch. The kids of course love to catch all the candy and otter pops, plus they always bonus if they catch a T-shirt or two or even a toy! The kids always enjoy sitting and watching their parade with their cousins. Trey, Ryker, and Rylan have always buddied up to catch more than their share of treats. Ally, Tyra, and Bryler did really well this year and ended up with lots of candy. McKenna and Belle, well of course, are to the age where they are too cool to catch candy, so they are the cute side liners just sitting back and watching as everyone goes by. Tyler, Brooke, Marci, Kallie, Garrett, Grandpa Rod, Grandma JoAnn, Jeremy and I all enjoy just watching the kids and visiting with each other.
With the small town feel to patriotism, the Gunnison parade always brings such a large crowd of attendees. There are lots of fun, creative floats. It is amazing how quick the streets are lined with hundred of people. This year we had to put our chairs out at 9 am on the 3rd of July. Next year, we will need to go sooner so we get a spot in the shade. The girls like to watch for the princesses while boys thrive off of the floats with water balloons or water guns.
After the parade is over, everyone heads over to Rod and JoAnn's house for a BBQ. McKenna, Belle, Chap and Trey went to the park for the festivities, but soon returned after they were sick of the crowds. McKenna and Belle went and hung out at our house while the rest of us sat and visited.
I had Kallie take some quick family pictures of us before they left to go home.
Jeremy and Trey spent the afternoon building a new roping calf, while the girls and I played inside. We finished off our fun day by heading to Richfield to watch fireworks with Eric, Jenna, and family. It was fun to watch the city fireworks, but even better than that was watching the show that neighborhood put on afterwards. Kendall Busk and neighbors purchase hundred of dollars worth of fireworks to be the grand finale of the day. I was so glad Jenna invited our family over to watch the fireworks with them.
Happy Birthday America, we love this time of year!
