Every year on the Saturday following the 4th of July, Torrey celebrates their Big Apple Days. For the last couple of years, Grandpa and Grandma Okerlund have stayed in their camping trailer at the local RV park and gone to some of the local festivities. This year they invited us to come over and spend the day with them. So early Saturday morning, the kids and I drove to Torrey to enjoy the celebration.
The parade started at 10:00 down the Torrey main street. I could not believe the huge crowd that gathered for this parade. It was fun to see so many small town entries and the kids of course loved all the candy that was thrown. The kids got a kick out of leader of the parade, they thought he looked like Si Robertson off of Duck Dynasty. Another highlight was the miniature apple pies that we handed out. As they walked passed, Grandpa O asked how many pies they make for this parade and they said 3,500. They were tasty little things too! All the kids walked away with bags full of suckers, tootsie rolls, taffy, and a few toys.

Following the parade, we went to the park and walked through the booth and let the kids play on the play equipment. Afterwards, we went back to the Grandpa and Grandma's trailer for some lunch. The boys had fun playing Frisbee while the girls and I played at the playground. It started to rain plus the sprinklers were on, so Allyson, Tara, and Lottie decided to put their jackets on and play in the sprinklers. They just giggled when the sprinklers came over them and got them all wet.
Everyone had such a fun day. It was fun to spend the day with Tyler, Ashley, Cannon, Tara, and Grandpa and Grandma O. The weather made it so we ended the day short, but the kids all said that the trip to Torrey was worth it. Each one of them said they can't wait to go again next year!
