Fun Day at Lagoon

* America On Stage *
National Dance Competition
LAGOON

Several months ago, McKenna and her dance group competed on a local level at an 'America On Stage' dance competition in Richfield.  At that competition, their dance group took first in both their performances, which in turn qualified them for the National Competition held at Lagoon.

It worked out great to go when the doors first opened, because we were able to ride several of the rides without too much time waiting in line.  First ride we rode was the Frightmare ride, we then went over and got in line for the Tidal Wave.  McKenna and Abby wanted to ride in the very back seats on the boat, so it worked out that we were first in line and so when they let us on, those girls ran to the back.  Trey and I both vowed that it wasn't our most favorite place to sit, but needless to say we survived!  From there, Trey and I went and stood in line to ride the train while McKenna and Abby rode the swings, something Trey and I weren't about to touch!

To break up our day and get us out of the heat, we went and watched the dance competition.  McKenna's dances were about a half hour apart from each other, so we just stayed in the shade and watched several performances.  It was so fun to watch McKenna and her dance team compete against other teams from all over the state.  They definitely did an awesome job compared to some of the other performances in their division.

After McKenna was through dancing, we went back to riding the rides.  I am glad that Abby came with us because her and McKenna were able to ride a lot of the rides that Trey and I did not care to attempt.  They rode the Wild Mouse, the Old Roller Coaster, Collasus, and Wicked.  Meanwhile, Trey played a couple of the games, he won a blow up bat based on the speed he threw a baseball.  We went and rode the other haunted house ride, got a treat, walked down through Pioneer Village and waited in line for the train.  Afterwards we people watched while we waited for Abby and McKenna to be through riding Wicked.  It was fun to watch the ride from the ground, I don't know how people can stand to actually ride that ride, McKenna said it was a blast, probably her very favorite!

On our way to the car, McKenna and Abby decided to play a game or two.  Unfortunately, they were not successful in winning a big prize to bring home.

McKenna and Trey both wanted their picture taken by the old roller coaster, but the trick was taking the picture with the riders photo bombing them!  We did it!

This was such a fun, memorable trip with these kids.  Lots of laughs and smiles.

McKenna received these ribbons and medal for their performance at the dance competition.  The Diamonds received first place in both performances in their division.  The team was awarded a trophy to stay in the dance shop.

Meanwhile, while we were at Lagoon, Tyler and Ashley saved the day by tending Allyson and Tyra.  Jeremy was out of town helping push cows, so I knew there would be no way I would dare attempt Lagoon without him and four kids.  I was so glad that Ashley was willing to take on two more girls in their household.  Ally and Tyra were of course thrilled to see Baby Erin and Tara.  Ashley took them to the park and played for a while, once they got home they played and played to the point of pure exhaustion.  All three girls wanted to hang out in their pajamas and then watch Frozen.  You can see that Tyra didn't last long, she was out as soon as the movie started!
