I have always loved the month of October. The weather is perfect, it's not too hot and not too cold. The changing of the leaves gives such a refreshing outlook on life. And best of all, there is no better time to spend with family than with all the fun traditions and activities that take place during the month of October. Today was one of those exceptional days, great weather, great view of the changing and leaves and being with my little girls.
This afternoon was spent with just the three of us, Ally, Lottie, and I. With Jeremy hunting and McKenna and Trey at the Hopi Reservation, I wanted to take these two girls to go and do something they love. We decided that it would be fun to pack a picnic and go to the Mayfield Park to play.
These two funny little things were so excited for our picnic, we packed our lunch, stopped by GIC to get a drink and a treat for the road and to Mayfield we went. But from the pictures you can see how well the picnic turned out. They didn't want to spread a blanket out on the lawn to eat their lunch, they just wanted to eat in the car. Yes, our lunch was enjoyed from the within the walls of our car. Who knows why, but if anything it made sit still and actually eat. Well, I guess eat, Lottie ate all her chips with only taking a few nipples out of her sandwich, where Ally ate most of her sandwich and only a few chips. They mainly were concerned about the treats that followed lunch.
After lunch, they were excited to go and play on the fun stuff at the park. We stayed for two hours playing on the train, in and out of the house, on the swings, and up and down the slides. They had so much fun and it what made it even better is that we were the only ones there, so they could play on what they wanted when they wanted.
I am not one for selfies, but this one my girls were quite giggly, they thought it was funny that I went down one of the slides. So with all smiles, we decided to take a picture of the three of us trapped somewhat in the tube slide! This is how memories are made!
Well, the park was a success, we had so much fun hanging out with just us three. We weren't in the car two minutes that they both were sound asleep. When we got to town, I took them to Action Video to let each of them pick out a movie since we would be home alone still. I told them it would be a girl's night of movies and treats. Allyson picked out the 'Royal Adventure' and Lottie picked out 'Legend of Oz, Dorothy's Return'. We made chocolate chip cookies and then stayed up having a movie marathon. Such a fun day with my girls!
