Trey's 5th Grade Play

Sing a Song of the U.S.A.

Tonight was Trey's performance of their fifth grade play called 'Sing a Song of the U.S.A.   For the past seven weeks, all of the fifth graders have been memorizing songs and individual lines for final performance.  This play is very well put together and gives the kids such a great way to learn about our country's history at the same time.

Each student in the four different classes had to try out for their different parts in the play.  Trey and Madison Holder were chosen to play the part of Ma and Pa in the pioneer scene.  These two were chosen based on how well the two of them sang together since the Ma and Pa had a duet to sing together in their scene.

Kennadi Knudsen, Madison Holder, Emma Stewart, and Aubrey Burrell are just a few of the cute girls in Trey's 5th Grade class.  I like the fact that Trey is such good friends with not only the boys in his grade but also such good friends with the girls.

Trey as Pa, with Ma and daughters as they push their handcart across the stage.  This was one of my favorite parts of the entire play, these kids were quite the actors.

The girls tried to push and Trey had to pull the handcart across the stage. It was a lot of acting for the kids in making the audience believe that their handcart was really heavy.  In the scene, Trey got frustrated and dropped the handle down, soon afterwards, Shea threw the blanket off the cart and came up just a yawning, all the commotion and noise woke him up!  Shea played it out really well and it just added the humor of this particular scene of the play.

Trey had three parts in the play this year.  First he was Pa in the pioneer scene, next he was one of the railroad workers, and last he was a Civil War soldier.  Everyone did such a great job and it was so fun to watch this year's performance.

Trey did a great job and was pleased with tonight's performance.
