If ever you question what forever feels like, well just ask a very excited six year old to wait three days for her birthday party and she will tell you that it is like waiting forever for it to finally get here. Allyson has been so excited for her birthday party this year to finally have her friends over to our house to play. The anticipation of it all has about killed us all!
She invited ten kids, but only six of them were able to make it. The party started with serving a light lunch, which consisted of heart shaped sandwiches, apple slices with dip, Cheetos, and a Capri Sun. It was amazing to see the amount of food these little kiddos could put away.
The kids decided that after lunch they wanted to let Ally open presents before we played any games. We ended up turning the present opening into a fun activity that they all enjoyed. We had the kids all sit in a circle and then we blind-folded Ally. I turned her around and around in circles and then she pointed at one of the kids, I then had to say certain things about what she/he was wearing, what color of eyes they had, etc. and then Ally had to guess who she was pointing at, if she guessed it right, she the was able to open that present brought by that child. There were sure a lot of giggles, and boy what a fun way for everyone to be involved in opening the presents.
Once the presents were open, the kids were excited to play games. They played a relay race game with a spoon and an egg to see who could make it down to the line and back to the start the very fastest without dropping the egg. They would have been happy just playing this the entire time, but I did convince them that if they wanted a prize for them to take home, I had a present for each of them to open. I took pencils and bubbles, enough for each of them and wrapped that present 16 times. We had them start in a circle and pass the present to their neighbor. McKenna took charge of the music, so when the music stopped, whoever had the package on their lap, they were able to unwrap one layer of paper. After everybody got several turns to unwrap, they finally got to the box where they were able to open it up to find a prize for all of them. After that we played one more game called the musical statue. This game had someone who was it, so when the music was playing everyone danced around, but when the music stopped, the dancing kids had to turn into statues. The person that we tagged it had to go around and try to make the statues smile. I was quite impressed that the funny things these kids did to try to make their friends smile, the statues were all able to keep a straight face. After several time of playing that game, it was cupcake time!
Soon it was time for this party to come to an end. This kids were so cute and had so much fun playing together. Since I put a pinwheel on the invite, I thought it would be fun to send each of the kids home with one. It worked out perfect because the wind was blowing so before I took them home, they all ran around watching the pinwheels spin. It was a pretty good prize to send home with each of the kids, they were all excited to have one of their own.
As you can see, she made a haul of fun things from her party. It is crazy to see how well her friends know her, she received several notebooks, crayons, chalk, and small art projects that she was so excited to start playing with. Happy Birthday Allyson!
