This fun filled evening was brought to you by "Ally's Pencil Box"!
Right now, Ally is my child that spends more time coloring, drawing, and cutting paper than any other child I know. She is always coming up with pictures for everyone in the family and leaving them little notes of her creation. She likes to color in her coloring book and then rip the pages out to make her own book of her finished project. It is endless hours of creation for her.
Well, tonight's art project all began from a project on Monday at school. The school teachers are preparing the kids for St. Patrick's Day, so they had them coloring rainbows. She came home so excited about her art project that she in turn wanted to do it for her family, so away to work she went! She sat up to the table, drew and cut out six rainbows. She then decided it would be fun for everyone to make leprechauns to go with the rainbows, so she included an outline of leprechauns to do with what they want. She had it so organized by putting everyone's name on the back of their rainbows so they would not get mixed up. Her intentions was to do it for family home evening, but the night ran away from us and it wasn't until Friday night that we all sat down at the table to make our own special creations.
With Ally all excited to take charge, she told us what to do and away to work we went. The project was a hit by all! We all started with our own rainbows, she pointed out that we could color them however we wanted and that she drew a little door on each of them, and that is how the leprechauns get inside our rainbow. After words she told us to draw our leprechauns however we wanted.
This was fun and yet only just the beginning for this fun filled evening. Everybody was so creative in their drawing of their own leprechauns. Jeremy's was by far the most elaborate. I told him that he had to keep it clean for this was a family filled activity and Trey agreed by saying that is wasn't a freak show! Yet, his was so cool, everyone wanted dad's help to perfect their own leprechaun. At this point, Lottie had given up on us and decided to go to bed while the rest of us, continued working away on our family village of rainbows and leprechauns.
As you can see, McKenna, Trey and Ally's rainbows turned into a full fledged art project. It was midnight before I finally got them to give it up and go to bed. But talk about fun, all three of them got into it so much that we were up and laughing to their creativity.
Trey's Creation . . .
He started with his rainbow and decided he wanted it have a fireplace inside the rainbow door, that way his leprechaun could roast marshmallows. He then added a front yard with sidewalks, fences, bubblegum machine mailbox, and a welcome sign out front. His leprechaun has a nice full red beard and is holding a pot of gold as well as his very own ipad.
Trey made a three dimensional basketball court in the back yard of his rainbow!

McKenna's Creation . . .
McKenna went all out and made a house for her two leprechauns, whom she named Steve and Shanequia. She made them a kitchen, bedroom, living room, bathroom and Shanequia her own craft room. She had us in stitches as she talked about how Shanequia loves to craft to the point she has her own crafting TV show, called "How to be Crafty".
Here you can see that Shanequia's crafting show is on TV!

Dad's Creation . . .
Mom's Creation . . .
Lottie's Creation . . .
Last but not least, Ally's Creation . . .
She liked that idea that Trey and McKenna had and that was adding more to their rainbows. She found herself a pink piece of paper to make her ground on and then she went to work creating flowers and fences. She used scraps of paper making a picnic bench for her two leprechauns as well as their own mailbox. She found stickers that she added to spruce things up. She was so excited to keep drawing and cutting away.

Here are her two leprechauns! We used popsicle sticks for their legs, this helped them look taller and at the same time helped them lean up against her house a little better.
Who would have know that a simple rainbow drawing could have turned into such an entertaining evening? What started out as a simple rainbow, turned into a small leprechaun village. Needless to say, it was a lot of fun and definitely very entertaining! We are so grateful that Ally was so determined in sharing this activity with us! Can't wait to see what she drums up next!
